There is an old saying that, "If money is lost, nothing is lost; if health is lost, something is lost; if character is lost, everything is lost". This saying amply explains the importance of character. Like countless others around the world, I too consider positive conduct as the first step towards and basis of respectable life and success. By success I mean the positive success not like the one of a robber who successfully loots the bank. 🙂
A simple review of our life on this planet reveals few undeniable facts, which we already know:
- The first one is that no human being has been designed to stay alive in this world forever. Physical life does come to an end some day.
- None carries his/her physical gains with him/her. Every material success is left behind.
- We are all responsible for what we do, which, in other words means that we will be rewarded or punished according to what we do in our physical lifetime.
Some one might think differently according to one’s faith and belief system and might or might not believe in life hereafter but still cannot deny that no human being lives forever. Even in this world, the system of reward and punishment exists in all the cultures and societies and lot of emphasis is laid on good conduct. Those who do wrong have to face the law but those who keep a watch on their conduct and refrain from violating the laws and ethics are respected. It must be remembered that to emphasis the importance of good conduct is not the responsibility of just the religious leaders and teachers; it is the responsibility of all of us. Believing that I too have this responsibility, I chose the focus of my blog to be the human conduct and personal development. Reiki also teaches good moral conduct, which is taught in the shape of Precepts in the first degree. I hope that someone will read these articles and review his lifestyle, if required.
